Hi-Tech Hot Tub Company Helps Thaw Frozen Swimmers

Bullfrog Spas provides hot tub to help swimmers warm up during the Polar Plunge, a benefit for the Special Olympics.

The event encourages brave swimmers to leap into icy waters for charity and was held at Pelican Bay Marina in Saratoga Springs, Utah. The Polar Plunge is put on by the Saratoga Springs Police Department to raise money for Utah Special Olympics.

Bullfrog Spas provided a working Model 662 hottub heated to around 100° F to help participants warm up after their brave swim. As one can imagine, the warm portable spa was an especially welcomed addition to the event.

The event helped to raise thousands of dollars to benefit the Special Olympics of Utah. Lyn Rees, of Utah Special Olympics, commented to local media, “It is a unique opportunity for individuals, organizations, and businesses to support local Special Olympics athletes by jumping or slowly crawling into the frigid, icy waters.”

The theme of the event was “We’re freezin’ for a reason!” and the smiles everywhere showed that this was a fun event and a great cause. Local eateries donated donuts and hot dogs to both jumpers and participants and a local coffee shop donated free, and much needed, hot coffee and hot chocolate.

One of the favorite features of the event was the costume contest. Teams and individuals donned attire ranging from classics like the Wizard of Oz and Incredible Hulk to some futuristic costumes from the movie “Despicable Me.”

Chain saws and a backhoe were necessary to create an opening in the ice and safety divers had to periodically toss ice chunks off to the sides to maintain open water. This was Bullfrog’s second year sponsoring the event and the Bullfrog Spas Model 662 was a great hit once again. This 6-person hot tub was often overfilled with appreciative swimmers needing a warm-up after their swim.
