Spas are made to retain heat, unfortunately sometimes too well. Running your filtration cycles for longer periods of time when the ambient temperature exceeds 100 degrees can cause the spa to overheat and shut down automatically.
These are the steps you can take to adjust filtration settings and prevent your spa’s water temp from rising during peak times of the summer/daytime heat.
- Make sure the spa is in filtration mode.
- Filtration time should be set to run during the coolest time of day or night.
- Set filtration to the minimum setting of 1 hour. Some controls will allow to turn off filter 2 setting.
- Open the cover regularly to allow built-up heat to escape.
- When the outside temps drop late summer and early fall, don’t forget to resume normal filtration settings.
