Bullfrog Spas and Hot Tubs Newsletter - September 07
Welcome,
Hello and happy September everyone. It’s hard to believe that fall is already on our doorstep. What a beautiful time of the year to enjoy a hot tub in your backyard. The leaves are changing colors, the air is cool and crisp, and the sun is sitting lower on the horizon. If you haven’t had the chance yet, go spend an evening in your backyard and enjoy the changing season. Fall really is the best time of year to spend in your hot tub.
In this issue we will highlight another JetPak of the month and also go over some tips on how to properly clean your spa shell. If you have questions or concerns that you would like to see featured in future editions, please let us know at newsletter@bullfrogspas.com.
JetPak® of the Month
The Gyro’ssage™
This month’s featured JetPak is the Gyro’ssage. The Gyro'ssage offers resort-style luxury with a swirling action that is truly heavenly. The interchangeable and adjustable jets are strategically positioned so spinning water reaches the entire back. Adjust the sweeping motion of the jets and relax to your delight! Laurie, a Bullfrog customer from Garibaldi Highlands, B.C. Canada, had this to say about her favorite JetPak:
“We live in Garibaldi Highlands which overlooks the Squamish Valley. The area is halfway between Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia. We are surrounded by spectacular mountains where we can hike, bike, run, and of course, ski in the winter…and get sore muscles as a result!
My favorite jetpack is the Gyro’ssage…it massages in just the right spots. My lower back gives me some grief so I really appreciate letting the gyro do its work to release the muscle tension and relieve the pain.
We've just had our hot tub (our first) since Christmas but we've enjoyed many lovely star filled evenings and watched owls and bats above us. One very cold morning last January, after our family's volunteer shift with our local Eagle Watch program, we warmed up in the hot tub. (We act as nature interpreters to tourists that travel here to view bald eagles. Eagles return here in the winter, timed with the salmon run, to feast on the spawned out salmon of the Squamish River.) You can imagine our delight after being chilled to the bone that we could warm up and still see the eagles...There, spiraling not too far overhead were nine mature bald eagles as they flew on the thermals up from the valley floor. It was an unforgettable sight.
Our knowledgeable and professional salesman, Len Efird, of Bullfrog Spas of North Vancouver, who was right about two things: He not only told us that this was a great spa, but having a hot tub meant good quality family time. Thanks, Len and thanks Bullfrog Spas!”
The Gyro’ssage is a great tool to help alleviate back pain and help you relax. The spinning jets have become a favorite for many Bullfrog users just as it has for Laurie. For 20% off the purchase of the Gyro’ssage, take the coupon at the bottom of the page into your local Bullfrog Spas dealer and have them help you configure your spa to include your newest JetPak.

Hot Tub Care
Caring For Your Spa Shell
Most people are really pretty good about taking care of their spas. They keep up on their chemicals, do regular water tests, and regularly clean their filters. Unfortunately, many people neglect one of the most important parts of regular spa maintenance; caring for their spa shell. With normal use, your spa shell will get dirty. Everything from hard water spots to spilt drinks can keep your spa’s shell from looking its best. Fortunately, these types of spots and stains are really easy to clean. Next time you do a water change or just want to touch up the areas above the water line, give these steps a try and your hot tub will look better than ever. Here is what we recommend:
General Cleaning
For general cleaning, a mild liquid dishwashing soap such as Ivory® or a window cleaner such as Windex® will remove all but the toughest stains. Simply apply these cleaners with a sponge or damp cloth. Make sure to rinse off any areas you have cleaned and dry them with a clean towel so as to remove any excess residue that may still be on the shell. Any leftover cleaning products will cause foaming in your spa water, so make sure to rinse as much of it away as you can. For tougher stains, products such as Softscrub® or Spic & Span® can also be used. Cleaning the Scum Line
Every time you use your spa, oils, lotions, hair care products, and detergents build up in the water. Last month we talked about how these residues can affect the performance of the filters, but they can also have a negative effect on your spa's shell. These residues will accumulate at the waters surface and leave a ring or scum line much like the one you can get in your bathtub. This buildup won’t damage your spa, but it does make it look rather unattractive. To remove it, we recommend using a spa surface cleaner, available at your local dealer. Take care to not use any type of detergent that will make suds in your spa water because once those jets come on, it will foam up.
What Not To Use
The products mentioned above will take care of almost all of your spa shell cleaning needs. If, for some reason, you have a stain that simply won’t come out, contact your local authorized Bullfrog dealer and they will be able to provide you with some additional tips that might help. Do not, however, use any of the following chemicals: alcohol, acetone (nail polish remover), nail polish, dry cleaning solution, lacquer thinners, gasoline, pine oil, abrasive cleaners, or any other household chemicals other than those listed. These chemicals can cause severe damage to your spa's shell and also void your warranty.
Do you have a question that you would like us to answer? Email us at newsletter@bullfrogspas.com and let us know. We’ll try our best to answer it in an upcoming issue… Next month we’ll address winterizing your spa. Winter is just around the corner and many of us need to start thinking about getting our spas ready for the cold.
Additional Resources
One of our readers, Terry in Ontario Canada, recently commented on a great online resource for spa and hot tub owners. The website is www.whatsthebest-hottub.com. The site is home to a large community of hot tub owners and hot tub dealers from many different companies. This community can be a great place for spa owners to find answers to questions about spa care as well as information about the different technologies available in the industry. If you have some time, stop by and see what you can find. This is not something that Bullfrog has put together, but we feel it can still be a valuable source of information for you. Thanks Terry for the link!
